I love you, Travis
My husband's and my dear cat Travis died last night. We are like many owners who think their cats are the most special cats in the world, but Travis was truly terrific 19-year-old trooper. He had one eye and always managed to have a sweet/silly disposition. We were very lucky to have him our hearts and home.

omg, Jen--
Sorry. First of all, I know what it's like to lose a cat--Barney (short for Barnyard, where he was born) died several years ago and I cried openly. I didn't realize when I tried to contact you that I was responding to your blog--I'm not that tasteless as to pose my "problem" of copyright (duh--I wrote copywrite) in a blog about your loss. Sorry again. It also occurred to me that I tagged my photo 'Gothamist' and you had and have every right to use them (double DUH). It just so happens that someone had done this to me before and I was reacting more to that than using my incredible analytic skills (I was a psychotherapist but changed careers for something more honest) to figure out that you did nothing improper. So, I beg your forgiveness and hope you use me in the future (I say that to my wife all the time).
Thanks and I am honestly sorry about your loss.

That's okay - no problem. I understand why people are protective of their pictures, too - and appreciate that you share them with us by tagging them "gothamist."
And thanks for the condolences. I think saying good-bye to Travis is the hardest thing I've have to do in my life, so in one respect I'm lucky, because he was old and had a very full life, but in another, I miss my dear friend.
Writer/filmmaker Jean Cocteau once said: "I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul."
So glad you had many good years with sweet Travis and that you provided such a loving home.
